Do I need to update my Teaching Standards documentation in 2026?
Yes. From 2027 onwards, all recertification will be aligned to the new Teaching Standards. That means kaiako need to align their 2026 professional growth cycle work to the updated teaching standards.
Kaiako being endorsed for recertification in 2026 can still be signed off against the old Teaching Standards, this is a transition year.
What does this mean for services?
Even though endorsement can still occur under the old standards this year:
- Your Professional Growth Cycle work should now be aligned to the new standards
- Documentation and templates will need to reflect the new structure
- Starting early will make the 2027 transition much smoother
