Father’s Day Photo Frames – English & Te Reo Māori ECE Printable

Create a meaningful Father’s Day keepsake that combines children’s creativity, child voice and a special photo.

These downloadble, printable pdf documents include English and te reo Māori versions of our Father’s Day photo frames, with eight different options so kaiako can choose the frame that best reflects each child and their family.

The pack includes options for Dad, Grandad/Koro and someone special, making it a more inclusive Father’s Day activity for tamariki with different family and whānau structures.

Each frame includes a space for adding a photo and a wide border that children can decorate themselves using paint, crayons, collage, stickers, fingerprints or other mark-making. There is also space for kaiako to capture the child’s own words about why they love their special person.

As well as creating a lovely keepsake, the activity supports creativity, child voice and emergent literacy. When kaiako scribe children’s words and read them back, tamariki can begin to make connections between spoken language and print and develop their understanding that words and print carry meaning.

Designed with four frames per A4 page, they are easy to print, cut out, personalise and send home.

How to use the photo frames

Print the page and cut out the individual frames. Add a photo of the child, then invite tamariki to decorate the wide border using crayons, paint, collage, stickers, fingerprints or mark-making. Talk with the child about their special person and scribe their response to “I love you because…”

The finished frame can then be:

• glued onto the front of a folded Father’s Day card
• mounted onto coloured card as a stand-alone photo keepsake
• laminated or backed with sturdy card to create a photo frame
• added to another Father’s Day gift or keepsake
