Support kaiako to reflect meaningfully on their research and professional learning as part of the Professional Growth Cycle.
This practical reflection template is designed for the early stages of the PGC, when kaiako are exploring their inquiry topic through research, reading, podcasts, professional learning and other sources of professional knowledge.
Rather than simply recording what professional learning has been completed, the template encourages kaiako to think about what they have learned, how their thinking is developing, and what this could mean for their teaching practice.
Reflection prompts help kaiako consider:
- the most important things they have learned
- what their learning has made them think about in relation to current practice
- whether anything has challenged or changed their thinking
- aspects of practice they might consider changing or strengthening
- areas they would like to explore or learn more about
The completed reflection can then help inform the kaiako’s next coaching conversation and the changes or refinements they may decide to trial as their inquiry progresses.
Flexible to use
The reflection does not have to be completed in writing. Kaiako using an electronic PGC folder or portfolio can also use the questions as prompts to voice or video record their reflection.
Specifically developed for kaiako completing a Professional Growth Cycle in ECE services.
